Brief Description:
It is AKA elephant ear fig tree. They are attractive legumes that can grow up to 20-30 feet tall with unusual royal purple flowers. The fruits can be consumed by humans and it is a sweet flavor when ripened. Fruits are believed to have medicinal properties as its oil is used in herbal remedies. Fruits of this plant have several health benefits such as being rich in dietary fibers, antioxidants, and essential vitamins. They prefer growing in full sun to semi-shade with regular watering. The spectacular foliage has an ornamental value for landscaping. The good foliage is commonly used as livestock fodder. They are also considered salt-tolerant plants as they fit in the ideal location of the sea-side at lowlands.
